The story thus far...
Grace and Simon, two teenage tearaways, have managed to lock themselves in a derelict theatre in Reality (they live in Allegory), by entering a box or cabinet of some sort in the basement of The tré (Otterstow's small theatre). Ignatius (the mayor) suspects this is the case and has enlisted the aid of the parents (Slide, Sandra, Pete and Gina). They have been unable to open the box as of yet and Ignatius is trying to find out if they can legally enlist the aid of others who might be able to and if it is legal to even enter Reality, which will require a trip to Trinova.
What's going on right now:
Ignatius is going to recruit Clare to go to Trinova with him.
About the page...
No one (except for Thaddeus) seems to like Portrayal Duty (also known as PD). Yet, it is the civic mortar which binds their society together.
You might be pleased to know that this is the last we'll see of the Black Kettle for a while (even though we don't actually see it in this page). Next week, we change scenes entirely.

"Yes, I suppose it would be. Busy tomorrow?" he asked.
"I've PD tomorrow. And you have me dusting the Town Hall."
Although Clare's legal guardian, Gina, owned the Black Kettle, she preferred as much as possible to make her own way in the world. To this end, she took menial work for the town of Otterstow, thus making Ignatius her employer.
"You'll still have PD, but would you prefer something besides dusting?" Ignatius offered.
"I'd rather do the dusting and skip PD," Clare answered. "But sure, I'm game. What do you have in mind?"
"Fancy a train ride?"
