The story thus far...
Grace and Simon, two teenage tearaways, have discovered a passage to Reality in the basement of The tré (a tiny theatre in their miniscule town of Otterstow). Unfortunately, they have accidentally trapped themselves and cannot return, although they don't seem to be in any hurry to do so.
Ignatius (the mayor of Otterstow) suspects this is the case and has enlisted the aid of the parents; Slide, Sandra, Pete and Gina. None of the adults have figured out how to open the passage, which seems to involve a mysterious box.

What's going on right now:
Grace and Simon are exploring the Rialto, which is the theatre on the other side of the passage.
It's getting late and they're scouting around for a bite to eat in the kitchen.

About the page...
Simon doesn't seem to have much luck in his culinary explorations.
I did a pretty substantial search for the term 'burpware' when I wrote this scene many years ago. The term had been used here and there, but there didn't seem to be any products using it as a trademark. There is a "Burp Wear", but it's a line of infant clothing (for the feeding and subsequent burping of babies, ostensibly). Frankly, if I get sued for using the term, I'd be tickled pink to know that someone actually reads my strip.

"Honestly, Grace," Simon admonished quietly. "Your language, sometimes . . . "

"Oh, don't be such a twat, Si," she said, rifling through the next drawer.

Simon picked up a small, plastic box which bore no labels beyond a single embossed word.

"Hmm. It says 'burpware' . . . Wonder what that tastes like?" He peeled off the lid and stuck his nose inside. "Phwoar! What a pong!" he commented, instantly closing it and stuffing it back inside the refrigerator. "I don't know what burpware is, but I sure don't want any!"
